WINEMAKER NOTES
This wine captivates the senses with its pronounced aromas of buttery, sweet cherry that seamlessly transition into delightful notes of sweet cranberries and subtle hints of tobacco. On the palate, flavors of dark cherry, dried cranberry, and nuanced oak, reminiscent of tobacco, envelop the taste buds. The wine concludes with a long, lingering finish that showcases strong accents of black currant and vanilla.
WINEMAKING TECHNIQUES
Clusters were hand harvested at night to ensure gentle processing of cool fruit. At the winery, the grapes were hand sorted, destemmed, and 10% of fruit was left "whole cluster" for complexity. The fruit was fermented in small open top bins with a blend of natural and cultured yeasts. Twice daily hand punch downs continued the extraction process throughout fermentation. The final blend consists of the winemaker's selection of the best barrels.
FRUIT SOURCE: SUACCI VINEYARD
Suacci Vineyard is a 6.5-acre vineyard planted on south facing slopes of the Sebastopol Hills in the known Blucher Valley. In this especially cool pocket of the Russian River Valley AVA, there are short windows of heat in the midday, followed by ocean breezes which flow through the Petaluma Gap. With low yields and tiny “grenade” clusters, this vineyard consistently produces Pinot Noir with intense, complex flavors and pronounced acidity.
VINTAGE NOTES
The growing season was largely uneventful, with some challenges during budbreak and cluster development due to March rains. However, moderate weather and controlled ripening resulted in desired flavor profiles. Harvest was completed by late September, indicating promising quality with firm berries, vibrant flavors, excellent acidity, tannins, and freshness.
THE WINERY
Bailarín Cellars was created in 2014 by a collective of family and friends, each following their respective passions. Together, we focus on producing small lots of handcrafted wines from unique vineyard sources. We are proud to share the fruits of our labor and love with you.
