WINEMAKER NOTES

Made from a blend of Pinot Noir and Merlot sourced from our host vineyard. This 2023 Rosè exhibits elements of Jasmine, and melon. On the palate, watermelon and honeydew accentuate this wine making it perfect for a summer day by the pool. A crisp, refreshing finish of melon and cherry blossom.

WINEMAKING TECHNIQUES

Crafted using a French technique known as “saignée,” the grapes for this wine first undergo 10-15% bleeds in our tanks after arrival at the winemaking facility. This approach to making rosé involves extracting the juice before the skins release too much color. Doing so helps concentrate the juice-to-skin ratio in all of our Pinot Noirs, and the result is a stunning, vibrantly pink wine. The juice is then fermented in stainless steel drums until it reaches a dry state. We then interrupt the secondary fermentation halfway through to prevent malolactic conversion, preserving the wine’s vibrant fruit characteristics.

FRUIT SOURCE: Manchester Ridge, Bacigalupi, and Madden

Our 2023 Rosé is crafted from two award-winning Pinot Noir vineyards and three different Pinot Noir clones, plus our wonderful Merlot from Madden Vineyard in the Dry Creek Valley AVA. Manchester Ridge is located in the Mendocino Ridge AVA near the Sonoma County line, known for its rugged terrain and high elevations. Bacigalupi Vineyard, spanning 125 acres in the Russian River area, holds a rich family history in the wine industry spanning four generations.

VINTAGE NOTES

Although longer that anticipated, the 2023 vintage turned out to be a good growing season and resulted in concentrated flavors. It was tough to get everything ripe towards the end as it was not a hot year, but the extended hang time produced smaller clusters and berries that yielded bright and rich fruit characteristics, and the wait was well worth it. The fruit turned out fantastic.
